Last year at St Thomas’ we looked at our S.H.A.P.E. focusing on the gifts and talents given to us by God. S Spiritual Gifts that we have been blessed with. H Heart, the passion we have that makes our heart beat faster. A Abilities that God has given us. P Personality, the sort of person we are. E Experience, what we have learnt during our lives. Sometimes we may struggle to find our ‘Shape’. However one gifts we all have is ‘giving’ which is the theme of this poem. How can you say you have nothing to give? No riches to scatter abroad? No soaring talents to light up the world No jewels in glittering hoard? For oh, my friend, you are wrong, quite wrong Your treasures are pearly beyond price They may not be Euros or dollars or pounds But those that you have will suffice. A helping hand where the path is rough A shoulder to mop the tears A friendship which, come fair wind or foul Stays steadfast all through the years.< br> A kindly word to heal a hurt A smile to colour the day The warmth of a hug ’midst cold arctic wastes Kneeling to bless and to pray. So never say you have nothing to give Or feel yourself standing apart For the world is in need of the healing which comes From the depth of a generous heart.
