With the building being only a few weeks away from opening some of the our children spent time praying for it and its use and the people who would be using it. They did this using four prayer stations. Giving thanks God has given us all we need. The children talked about how the centre has been managed and built, remembering that this time last year there was no building but just two old portacabins. They ate a chocolate coin slowly -giving thanks that people have given enough money and time for the centre to be built. They then wrote their own 'Thank You' prayer. Praying about the building The children built a symbolic wall and thanked God for the builders' skills and for their protection during the building work. They then discussed how the building could be used for God and that this will happen. Cafe area The children were asked to discuss how they hoped the cafe would become a meeting place -one where people don't just buy a drink and something to eat, but somewhere to meet God as well and are fed physically and spiritually. They then slowly drank a milk shake and ate some fruit, listening to hear if God was saying something to them. He might have asked them to pray for someone they didn't know. People The children blew some bubbles. As they blew the first time they prayed for the people who will give their time to help with the centre. The bubbles represented all these people. They blew again and these bubbles represented all the people in our community who don't yet come to St Thomas'. They prayed that through our new building these people might come to know Jesus. The children made a bubble prayer braclet with the bubbles representing the many volunteers we will need and people who will come.
