Palm Sunday The 11am Palm Sunday Service ended with the children celebrating with flags and banners.
Prayer and Meditation -The Easter Experience On the Tuesday evening of Holy Week a time of Prayer and Meditation was held at St Thomas'. It was lead by Karen Herrick. Karen had set up a series of stations around the church depicting and describing the final week of Jesus' life, to which some 150 children from the local schools had been invited. These were used as a focus for our meditation and prayers. Good Friday 'Hot Cross Bun' Service On Good Friday morning an 'All Age Hot Cross Bun' service was lead by Pauline Kelshaw. Some seventy children and adults attended. Pauline narated the Easter story from Palm Sunday to the Crucifixion with the children (and adults) acting it out. Worship was lead by Gaz Simmonds. At the end of the service everyone was given a mug (to represent the Last Supper), a piece of string (Jesus being arrested and detained), a red ribbon (Jesus' blood) and a heart (God's love in sending His Son to save us). The children also helped to make the Easter Garden After the service there were hot cross buns prepared by Caroline Baker, Jane Simmonds and Karen Riley. Easter Day Service The Easter Morning service was a celebration of Jesus' Resurrection -so we started the service off with Champagne! (-well 'Shloer' actually).
